A game that makes me think of "meta" but not in that icky buzzwordy way:

• Abilities would be gained in the form of cheat codes, which are entered by pausing the game and typing them in ("UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START!").
• After defeating the final boss, the player is presented with a save screen. However, the boss rises from the grave and smashes the save screen, inciting a final (for reals this time!) battle.
